Jimmy graduated from Lanier High School in Macon (now Central High School) in 1966, attended Mercer University, graduated from Georgia College and State University in 1971 and earned a Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1980. 

 

Jimmy’s ministry in Macon has included Senior Pastorates at Pine Forest Baptist Church for 13 years and West Highland Baptist Church for eight years as well as earlier Associate Pastorates at Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church, Bellevue Baptist Church, and Cherokee Heights Baptist Church. 

He also served as Pastor of Milford Baptist Church in Marietta, GA and Central Baptist Church in Winchester, KY.

 

In 2001 he was led by the Lord to plant the church congregation which he now serves at Bethany Baptist Church. The church began with three families and met in homes and an office complex for the first three years. Over the years since its inception the congregation has grown to over 600 members. 

 

Jimmy married Susan Tidwell Corbitt in 1971. She is a vital ministry partner, teaching a large Ladies Sunday School class, leading women’s bible studies and singing in the choir.  Jimmy and Susan are the parents of Daniel Corbitt, who serves as Associate Pastor of Music and Youth Minister at the church and is completing his Master of Divinity degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. 

 

Jimmy enjoys the playing the guitar, singing, and golf.
